It depends 😉

I am reading prose writings quite fast, about ten words per second when reading longer texts. That is about half of the speed trained in #5 in the text.

For shorter texts, it is close to what I have written in the article.

Also, I often take notes, not only as mindmaps but as causal loop diagrams.

When having a technical book like mathematics, or quantum physics/computing, it is much slower. Then, I build up in parallel the visual image in my mind of what that means.

And when I am tired, then I am as slow as a snail.

The techniques should be seen as an enhancement of the repertoire for reading.
